Quiver
Backbone & Burlesque Book Five
Ten years ago, my childhood best friend walked out—taking my heart with her.
Now she’s back. Broke, broken, begging for a place to crash.
I should say no. I should protect the uncomplicated world I’ve built behind the bar at burlesque lounge Titter.
But I let her in.
Sharing my space is bad enough. But old feelings? Not dead.
And disaster? That’s guaranteed.
She’s still uptight. Still judgmental. Still wrong for my late-night, rule-breaking life.
So we make rules to survive her temporary stay.
No jealousy.
No sleepovers.
No attachments.
Friends with benefits. All heat, no heart. At least, that’s the lie we tell ourselves.
Meanwhile, my best friends—Titter’s king and queen—are getting married, and I’m officiating like I’m love’s biggest believer.
What a joke.
Juggling their big day, a bar full of complications, and the one woman who’s always been the exception to every rule I’ve ever made?
Definitely not the plan.
Keeping it simple isn’t an option anymore. Neither is keeping her.
Some risks are worth taking…especially the ones I swore I’d never take twice.
